Tonight I’m going to Green Apple Books in San Francisco for James Sturm’s tour stop in support of his new book Off Season. The new book (which I read parts of online and will pick up tonight) deals with the life of a Vermonter around the 2016 elections; I covered those elections pretty closely in my own comics and I was living in Vermont and teaching at James’ school while he worked on this. James’ drawings are beautiful and a lot of the scenes are picked right out of White River Junction, VT, where I lived and worked. So I’m really looking forward to having the final book in hand.
He’ll be in conversation with journalist & cartoonist Susie Cagle, one of my oldest comics friends, and a person who pulls zero punches when it comes to political analysis. I expect it to be a great talk. See you there?
